Artist Description: Sunfields Band : Country coated, acid laced guitar pop from the heart of Montreal. Frontman Jason Kent and his musicians know how to craft heartfelt country anthems.
After babies being born, houses being bought, walls being painted, and songs being written, re written and writ again, Montreal's Sunfields have surfaced with a brand new record, almost four years after their debut Palace in the Sun was released, which was once described as '...the most overlooked album of 2010.'
Habitat is a culmination of road tested songs, spontaneous ditties, and meticulous calculations. With over 22 songs recorded, this album could have easily been a double record, but time is not going anywhere, and Sunfields have enough songs to release a record a year for the next millennia.
Since the release of Palace, Sunfields have toured England, played NYC showcases, and have continued touring Quebec and Ontario. First mixed in June 2012 by Adrian Popovich, the band continued recording more and more material until they found themselves with an almost entirely new record, and ultimately a new mixer.
This collection of songs draw on simplicity, abiding themes, and circular undertones.
Being released on May 27th via Andrew Rodriguez's (Bodega, Melissa Auf der Maur, The Cruelty Party) brand new label Exit Sign Music, the album was recorded at Breakglass Studios with Jace Lasek, and at Field Recordings (Sunfields' private recording studio in Montreal). The album was mixed by madman/ghost mixer/compressor happy Graeme Humphrey (Eight and a Half, Simple Plan) on his rewired spaceship mixing board "Stella", and mastered by Guy Hébert (Dan Bigras, Félix Leclerc, Daniel Bélanger) and Harris Newman for vinyl.
There is nothing untimely about this album. It will welcome you with open arms and cradle you with warm heart. Here comes the Sun...
