Artist Description: The Mothboxer story starts around 2007 ish..
Dave Ody had just released his album GEEN through Lineout Records, it was an album that had its roots in Daves previous band, the fondly remembered Kid Galahad (later The Furze). Some of the tracks on GEEN were intended for KG and some date back before then!
Bob from Lineout said to Dave Play this live!! so Dave set about forming a band. The live Mothboxer consisted of Dave, Robbie Burley, Phil Davies and Jon Hawes. They played a few select gigs around London and the South East of the UK and the reception was encouraging enough to keep them booking gigs!
As time moved on though, life was getting in the way for some so gigging became trickier and Mothboxer went back to being a studio band (which is what it was, lets face it!)
The band released MOTHBOXER in 2010 to great critical acclaim containing essentially the live set plus more! With high praise and plays from Gary Crowley on BBC Radio as well as online favourites, Amazing Radio and Jango, the band built it's fanbase considerably.
The following year saw Dave back in the studio concocting the FREQUENCY album (considered the spiritual successor to GEEN). The album built on the success of the debut and had a more electronic and introspective feel at times but kept the power pop vibe of the debut at heart!
Which brings us to 2012... In January, The next album was announced and in May the first fruits appeared as the BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME EP.
A 4 track release containing the title track taken from the forthcoming THREE album as well as an acoustic version of the live and radio favourite SAD CRAZY LOVE SONGS.
Mothboxer's third LP is finally available as of 16th December 2012! Entitled Three.
Not only did 2013 see the release of the bands music on CD but a new live line up started rehearsals on February 20th with talk of some upcoming shows..
The live Mothboxer now consists of Dave, Robbie, Phil and Pat Davidson as new bass recruit.
